Bhangarh, a deserted town in Rajasthan, was established in 1613 by King Madho Singh, son of great Mughal general, Man Singh of Amber. Bhangarh was abandoned soon after being built and supposedly after it was cursed by a magician. In ignorance Ajab Singh, the grandson of Madho Singh, raised the palace to such a height that the shadow reached the forbidden place. Hence the devastation of entire town of Bhangarh happened. Local villagers say that whenever a house is built there its roof collapses. People say that nobody returned who stayed there after dark. And the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) sign board put up there says, "Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area."
Brij Raj Bhavan Palace in Kota, Rajasthan
The 178-year-old Brij Raj Bhavan Palace of the former princely family of Kota in Rajasthan has a resident ghost, namely that of Major Burton, who, while serving as the British resident to Kota, was killed by Indian sepoys during the 1857 Mutiny. The sepoys killed Major Burton and his two sons in the central hall of the building. According to the tale, an elderly man with a cane in his hand, the ghost of Major Burton does not harm anybody. But during his night visit, if any of the guards are sleeping or dozing, Major Burton gives them a slap.
Dow Hill, Kurseong, West Bengal
A number of murders have taken place in the Dow Hill forest that has left an eerie feeling in the atmosphere. Many locals have also heard footsteps in the corridors of Victoria Boys School during the December-March vacations. Woodcutters claim to have seen a headless young boy walking and then disappearing into the trees. All these things make this place one of the most haunted places in India.
D`Souza Chawl of Mahim, Mumbai
A well in the D`souza Chawl area of Mumbai, Mahim has acquired the reputation of being haunted. It is said that a woman, while getting water, fell to her death in the well. Many people claim to have seen the ghostly apparition of that woman near the well during nights. She is also said to be harmless.

It is said that Full Moon nights are very much haunted in Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune. According to an old story, this fort is haunted by the ghost of a prince who was brutally assassinated when he was 13 year old by one of his relative. His ghost can be heard shrieking in the middle of the night.

GP block - Meerut
Although not well known, GP block of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh has been reported as a haunted place. On a number of occasions, four guys have been seen sitting inside a house with a single candle lighted and drinking beer. It happens to be the most common sight for people passing through that area. Some of them also said that they have even seen girls in red dress coming out of the house. The house is double-storeyed and people have seen the boys sitting on the roof-top. People have stopped going to that place now.

The people who board the last train have some weird experiences and people have reported ghastly shadows of figures during late evenings and late night.
Hastings House, Alipore: Hastings house is a small part of Belvedere Estate. The Belvedere Estate was one of the oldest establishments in Alipore. Governor General Warren Hastings built Hasting House for himself and then it became the Governorís residence until the Government House came up later. Today, its a Womenís College of Calcutta University. the students here have reported different incidents that are spooky. Some say they have seen a man riding a horse entering the campus and searching some documents. They believe it to be Warren Hastings himself. Others have reported about the spirit of a boy who died here while playing football, since then no one plays here. One girl has reported of a woman who was possessed.
The National Library: The National Library also lies in Belvedere Estate premise. The National Library is known for its rare collection of books. Few people who are a regular visitor here have reported some eerie stories about the building. They have heard the sounds of foot steps and believe that it is the Governorís wife who has haunted this place. The new construction beside the building also have some spooky trails reported by people working there. During the construction, few workers met with some sever accident and died on the spot. To start off with, the place was a swamp until about only a decade ago when the West Bengal Government planned an IT sector in Salt Lake. Residents in the close by areas of Saltlake and Rajarhat have explained the reason for the strange experiences felt at Wipro Kolkata. Priya, a resident at Sector 3 Saltlake explains that the plot where Wipro Kolkata stands was a graveyard and the police often used the surroundings to encounter criminals. There have been more testimonials of the strange nature of the surroundings where the complex stands. Employees are often reluctant to go alone to the washroom after strange incidents had been reported.

Royal Calcutta Turf Club :-If you take frequent trips around the Royal Calcutta Turf Club of the Race course as it is popularly known, stop by and you could see a white fog galloping towards you. Well its not a fog as legend has it that it is the spirit of Pearl, one of the race horses shot by its master after she was unable to win races. People on vehicle have often confirmed the strange sight around the adjacent roads. One of the eye-witnesses remembers how in an April night he saw a fog passing the middle of the road. He looked on only to see it to get transformed to a majestic pristine white horse. Workers of the RCTC have pinned down the sights to the White Pearl which scorched the tracks in its glory days. One of the workers says, ďA jockey named William had shot his horse in 1931 after she was unable to win him any races.Ē
